Stone Bender Senior Portraits - A classic masterpiece

Photography is my passion.  I enjoy every aspect of the process- from scouting locations, being behind the lens, seeing the shot, and editing and creating the final image I had envisioned.  After every single shoot I am on an incredible high.  I get so excited about the images.  I am fired up!  I can't wait to load the images to my computer and see them on the full screen.  Even more, I can't wait for my clients to see them.   This day, the day I met Stone Bender, was no exception to the rule.  We had never met before in person.  We were meeting at the train depot in Whitefish, Montana to shoot his senior portraits.  He had mentioned that he was wearing a suit.  He was looking for artistic shots and he wanted to utilize some of the architecture in Whitefish as well as incorporate the local beauty.  When he walked up in his blue pin striped suit complimented with a red floral tie- I immeditaly knew that this photoshoot was going to be a classic masterpiece!

Let me tell you a little about Stone.

He is an athlete and a scholar from Alberta, Canada.  Stone recently began the first year of his business diploma.  He is working towards a career in accounting.

In the summer months he enjoys wake-surfing and water skiing on Whitefish Lake.  He also enjoys mountain biking the Whitefish Trail but loves riding Spencer Mountain and the downhill trails on Whitefish Mountain.  Spencer Mountain and Whitefish Mountain have very challenging trails, like the crazy-full speed ahead-jumping off of rocks down hill mountain biking variety.

In the winter months he enjoys a number of sports. He has played hockey for the last 11 years.  He referees hockey, has played both high school and club volleyball, and snowboards.

He started skiing at 3 and took up snowboarding as soon as he could at the age of 5. He grew up snowboarding on Whitefish Mountain and he has been a season pass holder ever since!

As if all of this isn't enough, he is also a natural in front of the lens.  Watch out GQ!

After we finished photographing at the train depot we headed over to my favorite field in Whitefish.  I like using this field because it has some architecture with the old barn as well as Whitefish Mountain Resort in the background, where Stone shreds all winter!

Picture this.. a leather chair, a small end table, and a bottle of Woodford Reserve... Doesn't sound like a senior portrait session????  Well, when the legal drinking age in your country is 18 - it totally works!

As the photoshoot began to wind down Stone and his parents had one last idea.... and I loved it!   Now, whether these images will ever make it into the year book, I doubt it.  But they are amazing and I only wish he was 21 so that Woodford Reserve, a USA based company, could use these shots for advertising!
