Whitefish Mountain Chair 2 Family Photo Session

Have you ever wondered what happens during an on mountain family portrait session with Mountain Life Photography?   Well wonder no more!  Read on to learn about our on mountain portrait experience.  We have several amazing locations on the mountain where we are stationed daily.  In today's blog,  we will take a look at our awesome CHAIR 2 locations.  Here we have 3 breathtaking spots where we set up families, couples, groups and individuals.  Each spot has a unique mountain feel.  It is hard to believe that we create such amazing photos in under 10 minutes time.

Our team of photographers is stationed on top of Chair 2  from 10-2 daily.  As you exit the lift we will greet you with a smile and a friendly hello.  Once we have greeted you, we take a short little walk to one of our picturesque locations.  We will have you take off your skis and snowboards, pull up your goggles, tuck/hide your lift tickets and pull down your neck gators... all details that will make your portrait picture perfect!

Now for the fun!  We have a variety of poses we like to use that incorporate skis and snowboards and bring everyone together with style.  We start every photo shoot off by shooting individual photos of the children.  I like to do several poses for each child that way when you come down to the viewing area you have a lot of options to choose from. After each child is photographed,  we then photograph the children together and in several poses.  All of this takes only a few minutes.

After we finish photographing the children we bring in the parents and do a family photo.  Again, we like to do two to three poses to give the guest options when they come down to view the images.  I usually do a sitting and a standing pose and if the family is up for it, I will do a pile up!

Finally, after we finish with the family photo, we have the children gear back up and we photograph mom and dad together.

In the end, the entire session takes about 10 minutes and the guest will have anywhere from 50-100 photos.  The photos from the portrait sessions are available for viewing at 2:30 at our sales desk located on the third floor of the base lodge.

Here is our first location on Chair 2 where we often take clients to photograph.  We like this spot because of the peek-a-boo view of Whitefish Lake, the gorgeous snow covered trees and of course the mountains creating a perfect backdrop.  Here are two families we recently photographed.

First, meet the Dearman family.  They travel all the way from Apex, North Carolina to Whitefish, Montana annually.  There is something magical about this mountain that brings families back year after year.  I think it might be the amazing photos but I am a little biased.

The Classen family hails from Orange County California.  They were also photographed at our chair two location looking down the run Swift Creek.  This shoot was so much fun!  Anytime a family wants to do the pile up pose, you know you're in for a good time!  Even on a slightly foggy day, this spot has awesome views!

Our Chair 2 location also has spectacular views of Whitefish Lake and the entire Flathead Valley.  This is a great option if you are prepared to ski down either Ed's Run or Hellroaring Run.  Meet the Brehon family from Saskatchewan, Canada.  We love our clients from Saskatchewan!

As anyone who has visited Whitefish in the winter knows, sunny days are not the norm.  We often get really low clouds that settle on Whitefish Mountain Resort.   Even the thickest cloud doesn't stop Mountain Life Photography from creating outstanding family, group and couples portraits!  The snow covered trees on the mountain are one of my personal favorite spots to photograph.  It looks like a true winter wonderland!  This is the Thompson family.  They are currently living the PURA VIDA lifestyle in Costa Rica.  They landed here in Whitefish, and I do believe we will be seeing this wonderful family again here on our mountain.  If not for the snow, for the amazing family photos they had taken by Mountain Life Photography :)

If you haven't had your photos taken yet by one of our amazing photographers, what are you waiting for?  It is fast, fun and we will capture memories that will last a lifetime.
