The Perfect Surprise Proposal Experience — Glacier National Park & Whitefish

Proposal photography in Glacier National Park, West Glacier, Whitefish, Whitefish Lake, The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, and Whitefish Mountain Resort (Big Mountain).

Planning a surprise proposal in Glacier National Park or Whitefish? I’m here to help you pull off the moment of a lifetime — and to make sure the whole experience feels natural, relaxed, and honestly… really fun.

I’ve photographed so many proposals throughout Glacier National Park, West Glacier, Whitefish Lake, The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, downtown Whitefish, and Whitefish Mountain Resort (Big Mountain), and I still get excited every single time. I show up early, help with planning, stay fully invested, and yes — I often tear up right along with you. It just happens.

People tell me all the time that they instantly feel comfortable around me, like we’ve known each other forever. I think it’s because I’m open, honest, and not afraid to be myself — and somehow that gives my clients permission to be themselves too. That comfort is a big part of capturing moments that feel real and relaxed.

And then there’s the photography side. This is where I really shine — not just in knowing the locations, the light, or the technical pieces, but in how everything blends together. Somehow the mix of being fully present with you and fully focused on the craft just works. When people feel comfortable and the scenery is doing its magic, that’s when the really good photos happen.

Whether you’re proposing beside the quiet blue water of Lake McDonald, the shores of Whitefish Lake, the docks near The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, or standing at the top of Whitefish Mountain Resort, I’m right there celebrating with you, guiding you, and capturing every part of the moment.

🤍 What’s Included in Your Proposal Experience

Planning a surprise proposal in places like Glacier National Park, Whitefish Lake, The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, or Whitefish Mountain Resort (Big Mountain) can feel overwhelming — so I take the guesswork out of it. I’m hands-on, organized, and with you through each step.

✓ Planning call to map everything out

We go over timing, light, crowds, and your vision. I’ll tell you what actually works on the ground — not what Pinterest thinks works.

✓ Location suggestions with photos or video + exact map pins

I send visuals of the exact spot so you know exactly where to walk, stand, and turn. No confusion, no wandering, no stress.

✓ Discreet, careful communication (so the surprise stays a surprise)

Before we begin planning, I ask how your partner communicates and whether they might see our messages. If texting isn’t safe, we switch to calls or email. I’m intentional about keeping things subtle and private so nothing gets spoiled.

✓ Clear timeline + weather strategy

Montana weather is unpredictable, but here’s the good news: in 20 years, I’ve never had to reschedule a proposal due to weather. I create a timeline that works with light, crowds, and conditions — and I always have an on-site adjustment plan ready if things shift.

✓ I arrive early and blend in

I’ll already be in place, acting like a tourist, hiker, or someone just enjoying the view — whatever fits the moment. Your partner will not suspect a thing.

✓ Full proposal coverage + a full portrait session after

Once the question is asked and you both catch your breath, we take a full session around the area. Not a handful of photos — a ton. Different angles, scenery, natural movement, Montana beauty, all of it. This is where you really get to soak in the moment and celebrate.

✓ Edited images delivered in a clean online gallery

High-resolution and ready to download, share, or print.

✓ Sneak peeks within 48 hours

Because you WILL want to relive it immediately.

🤍 How It Works

I want this to feel simple, fun, and completely stress-free for you. Here’s exactly how the proposal process flows from start to finish:

1. You reach out + share your date and ideas

Tell me what you’re imagining — a quiet moment at Lake McDonald, the docks at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, a hidden spot in West Glacier, something downtown in Whitefish… or even a ski proposal at Whitefish Mountain Resort (Big Mountain).

I am contracted by the resort during the winter season, and I’m on the mountain regularly while it’s open. Because I work directly with the resort and am completely comfortable shooting on skis, ski proposals are something I can pull off safely and seamlessly.

If you’re not sure about the location yet, that’s okay. I help with that part.

2. We secretly plan everything

Once your date is secured with a deposit, we hop on a call or email (or a very discreet text if it’s safe!).
One of the first things I ask is:
“Will your partner see our messages?”
If the answer is yes, we switch to email or calls and keep everything subtle so nothing gets spoiled.

3. I send locations, photos/video, and exact map pins

You’ll know exactly where to walk, where to stand, and how the moment will unfold. I send visuals of the exact spot so you’re not guessing or wandering around with shaky nerves.

4. We choose timing based on light + crowds

With 20 years photographing in this area, I know what works at what time. I create a simple timeline that keeps everything smooth, plus an on-the-ground adjustment plan if lighting or weather shifts.
(And truly — I’ve never once had to reschedule a proposal due to weather.)

5. I arrive early and blend in

I’m always in position ahead of you. I’ll be the lady taking in the view, pretending to photograph the lake, or admiring a tree — whatever fits the scene. You’ll know exactly who I am, but your partner won’t notice a thing.

6. You propose. I photograph everything.

The lead-up, the reaction, the ring, the scenery — all of it.
I’m fully present and fully invested. I get excited, I celebrate, sometimes I tear up, but mostly I’m focused on photographing the moment beautifully and naturally.

If your proposal is on skis at Whitefish Mountain Resort, I’ve got you. Because I’m contracted by the resort and very comfortable shooting on skis, I can photograph the moment at the summit, mid-run, or wherever the plan unfolds.

7. We do a full portrait session after

This is not a quick handful of photos — you get a full session afterward. We move around the location, use different backgrounds, capture the scenery, and take a ton of images. This is where you really settle into the “we’re engaged!” feeling.

8. Sneak peeks within 48 hours + full gallery delivered in 30 days

You get a handful of favorite images within 48 hours so you can share the news. When my schedule allows, I may also share a social post or quick video, but I don’t guarantee that part.
Your full gallery is delivered within 30 days in a clean, easy online collection you can download and print from.
